Automotive Data Recorder - our own products

We continue to develop and produce an automotive data recorder system that is sold through a third party to a wide range of customers including the blue light market (police, fire, ambulance). The system provides everything from the in-vehicle electronics through data collection to the data display and analysis software package.

The system is used to support many different customer requirements, often multiple functions for a single installation.

Some current examples are

- Fleet management activities (e.g. vehicle usage profiles, mileage reports)

- Analysing driver behaviour and supporting behaviour modification campaigns (e.g. speeding, heavy braking)

- Real time vehicle location (e.g. GPS location data with GSM/GPRS)

- Pre-incident analysis (e.g. journey data)

- Incident analysis (e.g. supporting Accident investigators including evidential quality data)

There is a family of in-vehicle data loggers matching the many and varied requirements of our customers. All the loggers can record basic parameters such as vehicle speed and revs, the use of brakes, headlights, etc. along with specialised equipment such as blue lights, sirens, etc. Most of the loggers also have the capability to detect incidents and record data from accelerometers and direction sensors.

Modules to collect additional information such as GPS location, driver identification etc. are also available.

Data Collection

The original loggers used either direct serial connection to a PC or compact flash cards to collect the data. This has expanded to collect data automatically using GSM, GPRS or wireless allowing real-time data collection.

The data from the loggers can be collected and stored using a suite of PC software. The data can be viewed and analysed using either PC software or through Web enabled software.
